It is our great pleasure to announce that Backline has restored Talk Line services effective July 1, 2010!
Call us, we're here to listen: 1.888.493.0092
Making decisions about pregnancy is complex.
Having lots of feelings and questions is normal.
We're here to listen - before, during and after,
no matter what choices you make.
Backline receives calls from women and their loved ones all over the US and Canada who are in the process of making decisions, or have already made decisions, about pregnancy. We know that these decisions can be complex, and we support you no matter what you choose to do.
We receive calls from women of all ages, races, backgrounds, religious affiliations and political leanings. We take calls from men who have questions or want someone to talk to. We take calls from parents wanting to know how to support their daughters in making a pregnancy decision.
We know everyone needs a safe place to talk, and our Advocates are committed to listening, answering your questions, sharing decision-making tools, and helping you identify and build your support network.
Through our Talk Line, Backline offers a peer-counseling service for women and their loved ones wishing to discuss pregnancy, parenting, abortion and adoption issues. Our trained volunteer Talk Line Advocates are not licensed healthcare providers or mental health specialists. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are having thoughts of hurting yourself, please call 1.800.273.TALK (in the US) or 1.800.SUICIDE (in the US or Canada), 24 hours a day.
Philosophy:
In a world where media, politics, religion, and culture have a heavy impact on individual beliefs about pregnancy, adoption, abortion and parenting, Backline was created as a safe space to explore all emotions and questions surrounding each pregnancy decision. Our Advocates believe that pregnancy often shines a "bright light" on the lives of women and their loved ones, and can illuminate issues surrounding family, relationships, hopes and dreams, and all of the other factors that are involved in deciding whether to parent, have an abortion, or place for adoption. Our Advocates are committed to supporting callers in the issues that they most need to talk about, and to creating a space for callers to articulate their emotions, process their experiences, ask questions, or just have a supportive ear.
Our Talk Line offers a safe and confidential space for women and their loved ones to talk openly about pregnancy, abortion, adoption and parenting. Call toll free from anywhere in the U.S.
