Volunteer With Backline!
Talk Line Advocates
Backline reopened our Talk Line on July 1st and will be holding our next volunteer Advocate Training in late September/early October 2010 in Portland, OR. If you are interested in applying to become a volunteer on the Talk Line, please fill out an application here.
Talk Line Advocates must be based in the Portland, OR area and are expected to serve two five-hour shifts per month for at least one year. All Talk Line Advocates receive 40 hours of training in the Backline model of options counseling and learn how to facilitate client-centered conversation around pregnancy, adoption, abortion and parenting. In addition to the initial training, Advocates meet on a monthly basis for support and ongoing education on reproductive and sexual health, client-centered counseling, and other relevant topics.
Other Positions
In addition to Talk Line Advocates, Backline needs many other talented and committed volunteers to make our work possible. We are always looking for people to help with big and little projects - helping with fundraising and outreach efforts, providing administrative and computer support, and serving on our board of directors. To learn more about current volunteer opportunities, please complete an application here and someone will contact you to follow up.
If you have any questions about volunteering with Backline, please email our Talk Line Manager, Shelly Dodson.
