Our Talkline is staffed entirely by dedicated and well-trained volunteers. We have Talkline Advocate cohorts in two locations: Portland, OR and Bloomington, IN. Trainings are typically held twice a year in each location. If you are interested in applying to become a Talkline Advocate, please fill out an application here!
Once accepted into the program, volunteers receive 40+ hours of training in the Backline model of peer counseling and learn how to facilitate caller-centered conversations around the full spectrum of experiences with pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption.
In addition to the initial training, Talkline Advocates continue to meet with their local cohort on a monthly basis for ongoing education, support, and community. Advocates are expected to work three 5-hour shifts per month and to serve on the Talkline for at least one year.
All-Options Pregnancy Resource Center
At All-Options, our volunteer Talkline Advocates may also provide in-person support to people who visit our Center for pregnancy tests, options counseling, and other peer counseling. Office Support Volunteers work at the front desk, give out diapers and safer sex supplies, organize the office, and help with outreach in the local community. If you live in the Bloomington area and are interested in volunteering at All-Options, fill out an application today!
